As always, an excellent recap.

It's unclear whose interests are being protected by failing to make deposition videos available to the media...Judge Boasberg surely understands the risks to public acceptance of his decision if the record is incomplete.

Perhaps I'm misinterpreting the summary of Deng's testimony, but I'm not clear how he failed to impeach himself by stating that WhatsApp "wasn't" a competitive threat to FB, given the litany of hysterical emails concerning just that point.

I'd also note that 30,000 people assigned to "integrity" (unclear what their roles were) seems far less impressive given that FB boasts 4 billion active users.

Yeah, public trial means public trial. I think a lot of companies and judges treat it as a suggestion though. That live recording is not permitted ought to be a scandal.

i am hearing that today FB presented some document from February 2022 everyone is talking about.

These lawsuits were filed in 2020. This pretend document is from February 2022. Meta knew by 2020 that this antitrust lawsuit was coming for it so they had lots of these fake "we have competitors" discussions. Meta's executives telling each other they have competitors does not make it true.

Meta should not be allowed to compete with Tiktok from within its monopoly apps (Facebook, Instagram) apps. It is against antitrust law for Meta to use their monopoly in social to extent into Tiktok's entertainment video app. Meta's Facebook and Instagram are illegally competing with Tiktok and then claiming Tiktok is competing with them.

Extending these monopoly apps is illegal.

The only way Meta should be allowed to compete with Tiktok is if they create a new standalone app to do so. Not putting it within Facebook app or Instagram app. Those are monopoly apps. They are not extendable.

Meta should not be allowed to add other companies use cases to their monopoly apps.

Meta should not have been allowed to extend into Reels.

Meta should not have been allowed to extend into Marketplace.

Meta should not have been allowed to extend into Dating.

Meta should not have been allowed to extend into AI Chatbots with Llama.

Its illegal.

Meta is only allowed to create new apps to compete. No extending/bundling allowed.

We need to enforce the rules.

Business has rules just like sports.

Imagine a Football/Baseball/Hockey/Basketball game with no referees. That is business today.

They are bringing these lawsuits 13 years after the infractions happened.

This is not good refereeing of business.

You are doing an amazing job reporting all of this. For my part, the fact that the judge is hiding parts of testimony tells me that we, as a people and as a country, are totally effed. It makes me very sad to say that, but it's what I see.

People who knowingly harm children are absolutely the lowest of the low. Period. And FB does it for more money, which they already have plenty of. Despicable.
